ABOUT THE MODULE
SIM800L GSM/GPRS module is a miniature GSM modem, which can be integrated into a great number of IoT projects. You can use this module to accomplish almost anything a normal cell phone can, including SMS text messages. The module often supports quad-band GSM/GPRS network, meaning it works pretty much anywhere in the world.

USEFUL LINKS

Here's a guide to integrate the SIM800L into ESPHome: Sim800L Component — ESPHome

Note that the enclosure mounting holes are specific to a certain SIM800L module. I got mine here: High Quality SIM800L Module GSM GPRS SMS with Antenna Replacement for SIM900A | eBay

ABOUT THE ENCLOSURE
This enclosure is a part of the IoTStax series, that are easy to print, and are able to be combined in stacks for easy mounting. Once printed, you can mount the SIM800L module with M3 bolts, either M3x8mm or M3x10mm. There are also two additional holes for using screws to mount this base, to wood, plastic, etc… The lid is a tight friction fit to the base, but has recesses to help remove the lid.

PRINTING
Flip the Base 180 to ensure that it's sitting correctly on the bed. The Lid does not need to be rotated or changed. No supports are needed.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED
The following equipment is needed for this:

2x 8mm diameter magnets

4x IoT cables (e.g. dupont), see the CABLING section below for more info

3x M3 bolts for mounting the module (either M3x8mm or M3x10mm)

2x screws or bolts (small sized) to mount the enclosure, if that's a requirement

STACKING
The lid features two holes for inserting 8mm diameter magnets. The fitting should be a tight friction fit, but you can use glue if needed. Pay attention to the orientation of the magnets. The magnets will be 600mm apart, which you can then use to stack an enclosure for an ESP32 or Wemos D1 on top of this.

CABLING
You will need 4x cables (dupont or similar) to connect the SIM800L module to an ESP32 and a power source.
