A DIY Kite Roping System Design: Creating a 2-Part Spool Setup Easily install this design on a standard 32mm/1" 1/4 OD PVC pipe. To secure the spools, use a piece of tube or all-thread and add a handle for quick reeling. UPDATE: A reel handle has been added to work with an M6 screw and washers, making it easy to spin. Simply tap one of the reel holes with an M6 tap and apply glue/thread lock to secure the screw in place. For the reel axis, cut a short piece of PVC pipe. Glue a union on one end, then force or glue another union onto the other end for ease of disassembly. Finally, add a short section of pipe as a handle for your hand. Each spool requires only gluing together. UPDATE: Force them together with a rubber mallet instead of gluing. A tip has been added inside each reel to make rope attachment easy during spooling. This design will help keep kite ropes neatly organized and untangled, making it perfect for spooling four kite ropes that are prone to getting tangled.
