This is a sturdy base plate that keeps the stand stable while you watch movies snuggled up in your favorite duvet on your bed. I created it because I wasn't happy with my previous stand, which was prone to tipping over on my bed and required me to hold onto my tablet or phone just to keep it from falling over.
