Stable Spinning Top

Stable Spinning Top

thingiverse

This top was designed with long spin times and stability in mind. It has a very low center of gravity, and a wide waist to give it good inertia. The thin handle lets the user input a lot of spin with only a small motion. I've included a split version and a regular version. The split version needs to be glued together with a lot of precision, since it will be less stable if the top is off balance. The non-split verison will, of course, need supports, and will probably result in a surface on the bottom that's not quite as nice. But you won't often see the bottom anyway!Edit: I've updated the split version of the file. I moved the cut down so it wasn't in such a highly visible spot on the top (it was previously on the outer rim) and made an indent so the two pieces can self-center when put together. The indent is at 45 degrees so it should still print without needing supports.Enjoy!
