This sleek design thrives on the concept of striking contrast between color and texture. The aluminum composite material boasts a crisp white surface, metallic edges, and a black backdrop that creates a stunning visual contrast with the foot crafted from two layers of richly stained beech plywood. A sturdy foundation is provided by 40 mm countersunk stainless steel Allen screws and nuts sized M4, securely fastening each part in place. The idea of drilling hexagonal holes into the upper section was initially inspired by whimsy, as the stand was specifically designed to accommodate Stabilo Point 88 pens featuring a unique hexagonal shaft. This build was executed on a desktop CNC machine from Stepcraft, utilizing 6.5 mm beech plywood and 2 mm Aludibond (a specialized aluminum compound material) with a spiral-toothed 1.2 mm flute for the wood and a dual-edged 1.4 mm flute for the aluminum. Please note that the "build STL" file is intended for three-dimensional viewing purposes only. For more captivating designs, visit https://www.zenziwerken.de/en/. How I Designed This I diverged from my initial sketch by opting for a different material choice.
