The custom-made roll actuation module was expertly crafted using AutoCAD software. Designed as a key component of the rocket's external airframe, the module also featured an exhaust manifold that enabled the parachute charge to flow seamlessly through it. Constructed via 3D printing, the module provided a sturdy foundation for the installation of its high-tech components. Twelve-gram digital metal gear servos were carefully placed in their designated compartment, while a 2.4 GHz receiver, 850mAh 7.4-volt battery, and SBEC (power supply) were seamlessly integrated into the module's design. The NAZE32 quadcopter flight control board was then masterfully installed over the other components, allowing for precise control of the fins via the tricopter tail servo firmware. Designed using AutoCAD and crafted from carbon fiber filament, the two canard fins boasted exceptional strength and rigidity while minimizing flexibility - a critical requirement for this specific application. These fins were securely attached to servo horns, with wires carefully connected to the control board and a PID (proportional, integral, derivative) loop meticulously tuned for optimal performance. Initially, the PID values were set at P: 4, I: 0.045, D: 1. An AltimeterThree altimeter/accelerometer was then strategically attached above the NAZE32 control board to collect valuable flight data. Printer Settings: Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer: Simple Black Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 100 microns Infill: 40% for module, 100% for canards Notes: Custom carbon fiber PLA filament from Prota Pasta was used to craft the canard fins, while standard black PLA was utilized for the module.
