Exterior of the Royal Pantheon of the Monastery of Santa María de Nájera.\nConsecrated in 1052 under the reign of King García Sánchez III of Nájera-Pamplona, legend has it that he discovered a small chapel in a cave with an image of the Virgin while hunting. It passes to Cluny in 1079, becoming one of its main monasteries. Favored by several powerful families, it is the burial site of numerous kings and noble families.\nPasa to belong to San Benito de Valladolid in the 16th century, and is desecrated in 1835, suffering numerous damages and losses. It remains as a parish, declared a Monument in 1889, with Franciscans inhabiting its walls since 1895, beginning its recovery.
