St. Thomas - US Virgin Islands
thingiverse
The island of St. Thomas built from 1 arcsecond resolution SRTM data supplied by the Space Shuttle measures approximately 1.7 million polygons in size. This digital terrain model was generated utilizing an untested and unreleased version of SRTM2STL software, allowing for high-resolution data processing. The source code used to create models at 3 arcsecond resolution can be downloaded from github, where it is distributed under the GNU license. To access this resource, search for "SRTM2STL" within the github platform. When printing raised relief maps or large-scale topological models using a PLA material, warping issues may arise, resulting in distorted or inaccurate renderings. To minimize these problems, users are advised to use small scale settings and may benefit from implementing heated bed technology for enhanced print quality.
