St Michael's Mount, a tidal island situated in Mount's Bay, Cornwall, UK, has captivated visitors with its enchanting charm. The island is home to a civil parish and is connected to the town of Marazion by a well-maintained causeway made from granite setts, accessible during mid-tide and low water periods. Managed by the National Trust, the castle and chapel on the island have been inhabited by the St Aubyn family since approximately 1650. St Michael's Mount boasts a rich history, with ties to its French counterpart, Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy, which shares similar tidal island characteristics and a conical shape. However, St Michael's Mount is significantly smaller, covering an area of 57 acres compared to Mont Saint-Michel's 247 acres. In the 11th century, Edward the Confessor gifted St Michael's Mount to the Benedictine religious order of Mont Saint-Michel.
