The stunning mosaics in the Roman Catholic church of St John the Baptist, Rochdale were created by renowned mosaic artist Eric Newton. Construction began in 1932 and was finished within a year. On either side of a central design of Christ the King, St John is shown baptizing Christ while awaiting his own execution. Also featured are Noah's Ark, the Resurrection of the Dead, the Papal coat of arms of Pope Pius XI and the coat of arms of Thomas Henshaw, fifth Bishop of Salford. This 3D model was compiled by Historic England to aid efforts in conserving the mosaics as part of a broader program of works to repair and celebrate the history of this landmark grade II* listed building. This version of the model has a lower resolution image texture.
