St John's Beacon

A miniature marvel: a 1:133 scale replica of Liverpool's iconic St John's Beacon, aka Radio City Tower. This tiny tower shines bright just like its larger counterpart, with letters encircling the circumference that light up and emit radio waves. But while the original stands tall in the cityscape, this diminutive version fits snugly on a desk. Its body proudly displays "DoES Liverpool," the makerspace's name, written around the middle. As night falls, the tower erupts into a mesmerizing display of flashing lights in an attract mode sequence that dances across its surface. But that's not all - this pint-sized wonder also stays connected to the world via Twitter, where it listens for colour choices on its downlights and responds with witty tweets accompanied by pictures and messages. And if you're nearby, tune into the tower's local FM radio broadcasts, controlled by an RSS feed that brings podcasts straight to your ears. Perched atop this tiny marvel is a 3D-printed lambanana, its thermochromic surface shifting hues in response to changing temperatures.
