sketchfab
The massive stone monument rises from the ground, crafted from the local Devonian shale that has been infused with extensive feldspar veining. Estimated to weigh a staggering 16.5 tonnes, it measures an impressive 4.92 metres in length and stands tall at over 3 metres above the earth's surface. The stone rests upon a low mound or cairn, boasting a diameter of approximately 10 metres. Dating back to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age period (around 2500-1500 BC), this ancient structure has been a topic of interest for centuries. Historical records reveal that the stone was first documented as early as 1613, serving as a significant boundary marker for St Breock parish. Today, the site is carefully preserved by the Cornwall Heritage Trust on behalf of English Heritage, ensuring its legacy for generations to come.
