SSE tube amplifier

SSE tube amplifier

Another tube amplifier, this time not just a 3D model but the actual photos of the completed unit, above and under the hood: SSE using George Anderson's schematic from tubelab.com, built with point-to-point technique instead of a PCB that got lost in transit. It produces 5.5 watts per channel from EL34 tubes driven by 12AT7s with CCS. The tubes are mounted on shock-absorbing rubber grommets and paired with large 70-milliamper double C-core OPTs. The sound is very nice, but I had to install an SMPS for the filaments due to noticeable hum on my hundred-plus decibel efficiency horn speakers. Many thanks go out to Andrew Whitham for providing me with models of the 12AX7 tubes, EL34 and octal sockets.
