SSD Enclosure Adapter Case for iMac
thingiverse
Hey there! I've got something pretty cool here for all you iMac fans out there. It's called an SSD Enclosure Adapter Case and it's specifically designed to work with your older iMacs, the ones from 2004 up until 2008. This clever little gadget is meant to replace that old 3-1/2 inch hard drive of yours with a super-fast 2-1/2 inch solid-state drive (SSD). The plastic clip and four screws are included, so you're good to go. The idea here is to position the SSD right next to those connectors, which have super-short cables, just to make everything as neat and tidy as possible. I've tested it out myself with an iMac 17-inch model from early 2006 (check out the pictures), and also a 24-inch iMac from mid 2008. It fits like a glove in both cases. Keep an eye out for my next project, because I'm planning on creating a special variant of this case that will work with those late-2008 to early-2012 iMacs, which have slightly different inner designs. Oh, and by the way, these pictures are from my first prototype. Since then, I've made some slight adjustments and improvements, which you'll find in the STL file provided. This is actually my very first upload on this platform, so bear with me while I figure things out!
