SSD adapter in low-profile floppy bay
thingiverse
This IBM Thinkcentre has only one 3.5" bay, housing CD and floppy drives. You can add a SSD hard drive while retaining the old disk as storage. The computer's small form factor adds a challenge, as does its unique Sony MPF820 floppy drive measuring L130 x W96 x T12.7mm. To overcome this issue, an adapter allows you to install a thin 2.5" SSD in the unusual floppy bay (1.44MB capacity, obsolete). The adapter comprises two side rails with screw holes for SSD installation from underneath, although side-screwing might be necessary in some setups. Print two adapters - one as is and another mirrored. After installation, enjoy the upgraded storage. A picture displays an adapter designed for a regular floppy bay (Thing #10519) alongside my setup.
