SS Kilsyth operated from 1909 to 1917, followed by SS Burnstone in 1918. Burnstone was a 2,340grt defensively-armed British merchant vessel. On March 19th, 1918, it sailed 44 miles north of the Farn Islands when torpedoed without warning and sunk by an enemy submarine, resulting in five fatalities.
