So the grip shift rubber sleeves on my 99 gary fischer started decomposing and leaving large amounts of rubber on my hands. So I looked on line and, if you can find them, new sleeves were $50. So I came here to look and I found https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3619093

which probably would have served the purpose but, I wanted something that looked a little closer to the original. So I took off the least damaged sleeve and fired up the 3d scanner. At first everything was scanning perfect on the outside but I had missing area's inside so I upped the scans to 24 per revolution and did a few rotations and it turned out perfect. The flaws in the ribs are the spots i was mentioning where the rubber was decomposing and coming off on my hand. seeing them side by side though, It looks nearly perfect.

This is something you want to print out of something with a little stretch and a little softer like TPU. I printed mine out of amazon basics tpu and it turned out a little shiny and a little tight but otherwise fit perfect both on the bar and in my hand. The only printing issue was the top with the overhang. It looked a little rough on the camera but i was too busy watching only murders in the building to get off the couch and come worry about it.

I did not use support as supports for tpu basically become part of the model. you are never getting those off.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

I3 MK3S

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.200

Infill:

15

Filament: amazon basics tpu TPU black Post-Printing =============

I used alcohol to remove the old grip shift, pry up an edge and dribble some alcohol in and it should slide right off.

the same thing applied for reinstalling the new, I poured alcohol on it and then slid it on. it took some work to get it all the way on but as you can see in the pix it was all the way on.

Category: Sport & Outdoors
