Squirt V2 Modified Duct
thingiverse
I began this process looking for a more efficient duct design and when I couldn't find anything specifically for the squirt I designed my own. I designed the lip of the duct around a NACA 0020 airfoil and narrowed the duct exit slightly. The duct will require props to be cut down slightly. Make sure to not over trim the props though, I would slowly trim them down until they are just barely touching then mount them and carefully arm the quad (I like to use turtle mode with the quad sitting flat on the ground) to trim away the last bit of the duct to make a near perfect fit. Please let me know your thoughts and if you have any ideas to make it better. Also if you think it makes it fly worse please let me know. I have been flying this for a few weeks and I think it's pretty fantastic. You will need three approximately 15mm m3 screws and nuts for each duct, I didn't like the original design of using standoffs to hold the duct so I replaced it with screws and nuts. To me it's much easier to remove a duct as it was always a pain to pull the standoffs out of the duct. Lastly, you will notice that the duct is thicker than the original design and the reasoning for that is two fold, one I feel that with rigidity there is a higher likelihood that the shape of the duct will stay the same with high speed air flowing. second, I destroyed a couple of the original ducts from light impact on the front of the quad and really didn't want the ducts to be a part that gets replaced often. Thanks for trying my design!
