Squirrel feeder Scrat
thingiverse
The feeder requires additional support underneath the hinge ring on the body. Possibly, some extra assistance is needed for the nose as well. The 3mm pin used is quite slender and rotates rather easily; possibly a slightly thicker option would also be suitable. Once assembled, secure it in place with glue. The lid can be easily opened and will stay that way. Testing of the feeder revealed that squirrels are able to access the nuts by opening the lid. However, due to its depth, smaller nut pieces from the bottom may prove difficult for them to retrieve. A slot has been added to accommodate a rectangular magnet. It's suggested that you instruct the slicer to pause at 4.68 using gcode M0 so the magnet can be inserted. Alternatively, simply leave it out and print without a magnet or pause. The neus-v4 is a more suitable nose design. Ensure the pin is securely fastened with glue or an m3 nut and bolt because a squirrel in our garden has been known to remove the original nose after pulling out the pin.
