Squid Ring Design for Metal Casting and 3D Printing. Ring Size: Modeled as a US 8, with a Volume of 0.87 cm3. Dimensions (mm): X 25.58, Y 21.42, Z 25.15. Designed with a US size 8 in mind (Diameter = 18.14mm approx.), this ring model ensures wall thickness is not an issue when scaled up for most metal 3D printing applications. To scale the ring to fit your finger size, use Meshmixer, a free software from Autodesk. Import the ring and navigate to Analysis/Measure in the left menu. Select Type: Edge to Edge, Direction: Outward (N), Snapping Mode: Snap to Vertices. Click on the inner diameter of the ring, which will display a red line and reading on the right side. To scale up, go to Edit/Transform and increase any size value, ensuring Uniform Scaling is checked. Repeat measuring until your correct finger size is achieved.
