Square Chamber Oil and Water Toy
thingiverse
Print a model containing separated oil and colored water within an enclosed space. The design features adjustable flow parameters and a default setting that ensures slow flow movement. To enhance the flow speed, increase the size of the chambers and channels depending on your printer's bridging capabilities. If you know another safe immiscible fluid combination with less viscosity, please share it. Before proceeding with this project, ensure proper ventilation due to potential hazardous fumes, and take safety precautions to avoid burns. To create the model, personalize the base and top thickness as needed for visibility and sealing. Seal the large faces using a stove-top and a cake pan from a 99 cent store, but do not reuse it for food preparation. Heat until the bottom surface appears clear, then let it cool before removing. You can seal only one thick face if necessary without remelting. The 3mm side wall thickness should be watertight. Drill two holes on opposite sides of an edge and fill with blue colored-water and vegetable oil. Seal any bubbles to observe the slower dynamics for more patient viewers.
