Squalia for Umbra
grabcad
This innovative container boasts a sleek design that conceals the paper roll discreetly. Featuring two silicone covers and a slot for dispensing paper towels, it can also function as a food container by covering the slot with a transparent strip of silicone, which doubles as a window to monitor contents. The base is enlarged on the front and side for added stability, while tapering inwards towards the middle maintains a slim profile. A unique feature of the silicone covers is an edge that serves both as a handle for removal and a slip guard when placed horizontally. The main shell's design proposes a food-grade plastic part created using a 4-part injection molding process. The name 'Squalia' is derived from 'square' and 'qualia', reflecting its square shape foundation and philosophical concept of evoking an emotional experience through sensory qualities.
