Spyro the Dragon bursts onto the scene as a title character and fearless protagonist of the Spyro the Dragon, The Legend of Spyro series, and takes center stage in the Skylanders franchise. First soaring onto the gaming landscape in 1998's iconic video game Spyro the Dragon, this vibrant, energetic purple dragon sports orange medium-sized wings that gleam with excitement, prominent curved horns (most times), a spiraling spike perched on the tip of his tail, and spikes that evoke a rebellious mohawk. Notably smaller than most dragons in the series, Spyro's compact size proves to be a valuable asset in the first game. In the original series, dragons are typically portrayed as bipedal creatures; however, Spyro defies convention by moving about on all fours. The newer series introduces an intriguing back-story: two thieves were racing through the dragon realms when they were intercepted by the vigilant dragons. These brazen bandits had two precious eggs in tow, which the noble dragons adopted as their own. As fate would have it, these eggs hatched into two remarkable creatures - Spyro the Dragon and Sparx the Dragonfly.
