Spurdo Spärde is a character brought to life by distorting the Pedobear sprite image, a task that originated in late 2008 when a Jonneweb administrator shared links on the Finnish gaming forum pointing users towards Kuvalauta. A crudely drawn picture accompanies misspelled captions presented entirely in all capital letters. As Spurdo Spärde's mutation picked up speed within the inside joke sphere of Kuvalauta, it earned itself the nickname that stands today. By the time summer 2011 rolled around, the meme had migrated to Ylilauta and eventually landed on Naurunappula[6], where cartoon characters were drawn with multiple panels, each featuring the Spurdo persona. Over time, Spurdo Spärde developed into an iconic representation of Jonne's stereotype – a child always typing in all-cap, guilty of using bad grammar, and addicted to consuming energy drinks. The character now serves as a cornerstone for the vast webcomic universe populated with various Spurde individuals.
