Creating a spur gear in SolidWorks requires minimal setup and precision drafting skills. Begin by defining a new part and selecting a plane for orientation purposes. Start creating your gear tooth profiles using an arc feature, as they will eventually make up the complete circumference of your gear's circular base. Use reference planes to locate the start of your gear, marking them accurately is crucial at this stage. Using the arc function, you create each side of the gear. Then move these arcs together and set the parameters on all arcs that meet for the precise specifications you have specified for a given model number.
