Spud Lathe - peel fruit or vegetables with a cordless drill
thingiverse
Inspired by a Facebook video that my wife shared with me - https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=539637342822833. After attempting to use it for peeling potatoes, I reevaluated what Chef van Ramshorst did in the video and discovered he was peeling apples. It's likely more efficient since they're inherently symmetrical; I ended up wasting several potatoes trying to remove all of their peel initially. However, to effectively use this gadget, you must attach the produce securely to the drill itself. Using a specialized peeler from the video would enhance performance, but my setup was with items on hand. When printing the file, rotate it so that it lays flat. For best results when using it for apples, scale it down since this is designed to be compatible with 3/8-inch drills and provide maximum durability. In addition to adjusting scaling within .stl format files in your printer software, you should adjust these numbers accordingly so that each print maintains the required thickness without affecting size. To minimize mess during operation, I advise using ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), a commonly used material that produces little if no fumes; this way you won't need any gloves for washing up afterwards. The .scad version does include provision for attachment point though, not included here but may become useful down road or possibly helpful during assembly steps when handling other items beyond food preparation needs etc....
