Sprung Idler for Prism

Sprung Idler for Prism

The Prism printer's Z axis uses a single, belt-driven stepper motor. Initially, the design lacked adjustment for irregular pulleys when the belt was tightened, leading to z-axis wobble. The belt would exert pressure on connected components, causing stress on the Z bearing block attached to the aluminum extrusion and resulting in the pivoting of the Z leadscrew in the x direction. This issue can be resolved by replacing the 624 directly attached to the extrusion with a new part that provides flexibility while maintaining proper belt tension as an idler.
