This is a pen holder for attaching to a 3D printer head or a CNC machine. The holder is springy and highly customizable, designed to be moderately low profile to give more drawing space. It's a great tool for anyone who wants to attach a pen or other tool to their printer or CNC machine. To use this pen holder, you'll need a tool-clip to attach it to your print head or CNC machine. I recommend using a tool-clip like the one I'm using on my XYZ DaVinci 1.0a. The SCAD file will generate holes for M3 screws to attach to the tool-clip. The pen holder is designed to be highly customizable, with a default pen size of up to 15mm that can be resized as needed. You can also change the "wave fraction" from 0.5 to 1 to create a longer section of a sine wave for the springs. If you want to use this pen holder with a CNC machine, you'll need to convert your SVG file to G-code using my gcodeplot.py python script. This script will take an SVG file and generate G-code that can be sent directly to your printer or CNC machine. To use the script, simply load your SVG file into Inkscape, select all objects, and then object-to-path. Save the file as a path-only SVG file, and then run the script using the following command: python gcodeplot.py filename.svg > filename.gcode Once you have your G-code file, you can send it to your printer or CNC machine using your usual control utility. You can also use the --send option with the script to send the G-code directly to the printer. By default, the pen holder is designed to draw with parallel lines according to intensity. However, in theory, you can use a pen description file to switch pens for different colors. I haven't tested this feature yet, but it's definitely worth exploring. The Hello Kitty design was taken from here and drawn directly on a sticky note stuck on the print bed. Ideally, the other end would be stuck down with painter's tape, but I didn't bother, and it only resulted in a slight shift in shading in one area.
