Springy Festive Tree
prusaprinters
AboutA festive tree with a star on top. Can be a used as a desk or hanging ornament..scad file included for customization. PrintingPrint the spiral, one of the toppers and optionally a stand. For the hanging version the hollow topper should be used.I printed on a Prusa MK3 at a .2mm layer height with Galaxy Black and Silver PLA in about 50 minutes with the stand. Sliced with Prusa Slicer. AssemblyStand VersionInsert the star into the middle of the spiral, then into the stand. Ensure the slots on the outer ring of the spiral are right side up.Maneuver the bottom of the stand through the outer ring of the spiral then insert it into the slots. The pressure from the springy spiral should keep the stand in place.Stand-less VersionStretch the spiral while the print is still warm. Note you will need to stretch it quite far to ensure it takes the right shape under gravity - around 3x the height you want it to be.Insert the star into the middle of the spiral. Holding the tree by the star make sure the spiral takes the right shape. If not stretch it some more! CustomizingNote you will need OpenSCAD and the MCAD library in order to customize the tree. All the parameters are at the top of the file, to make a bigger tree you can increase the radius of the spiral + stand and the height of the stand. You can also change the spiral thickness/number of turns to create a tree that less or more springy.
