Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse, a renowned French sculptor, crafted this stunning marble sculpture on June 12, 1824. Over the course of his illustrious career, he produced numerous terracotta pieces, with The Abduction of Hippodamei standing out as one of his most celebrated works. This masterpiece vividly depicts a centaur kidnapping Hippodameia on her wedding day, drawing from Greek mythology. In 1876, Carrier-Belleuse was appointed artistic director at the prestigious Manufacture nationale de Sèvres. As a founding member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1862, Carrier-Belleuse received the esteemed honor of being made an Officier of the Légion d'honneur. Prior to 1868, his bronzes were signed with his name alone, while afterwards he used the signature "Carrier-Belleuse." His diverse range of sculptural subjects and materials showcased a unique blend of styles, including unembellished Realism, neo-Baroque exuberance, and Rococo elegance. This particular sculpture is part of a popular series representing the seasons, with this piece personifying spring as she carries a wreath of blooming flowers. The work can be found on display at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille, France. Many other notable pieces by Carrier-Belleuse are available for viewing in auctions and museums throughout Paris and France, such as the Musée D'Orsay. This sculpture is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory.
