Springer Pusher Tug
thingiverse
This is a comprehensive collection of components used on a Springer pusher tug model. The Kort nozzle is showcased as a distinct part on Thingiverse. The hull and deck of the vessel are not 3D printed; instead, they're constructed from 1/8" plywood for the bottom and deck, while the sides, bow, and stern are built with 1/2" plywood. A PDF drawing file displays the overall design with precise dimensions, and a TXT file illustrates the profile of the sides. The deck is supported by two 1/2" thick cross members situated as shown in the drawing. The Post.stl is mounted at the center of the aft cross-member, while the forward fenders are attached to studs in the forward cross-member. The pusher fenders comprise three separate parts: bump frame, bump cross, and bump flex. One bumper cross piece is printed with a pair of mirror-imaged bumper frames. The bumper flex was printed using a "Flexi-Dually," allowing for the rigid frame and flexible fender to be printed as one piece. However, the flexible fender can be omitted if you don't have a dual extruder capability. The mirrored frames fit snugly onto the bumper cross piece, with holes in the bottom designed to attach onto studs on a structural cross-member near the bow. The helm super structure is divided into distinct .stl files for printing without supports. Once printed, the pieces can be glued together using CA glue. A floor for the superstructure can be used to conceal an opening into the hull, while the roof and walls can be sanded smooth before being painted. Various accessories such as the ladder, life preserver, navigation lights, exhaust pipes, radar, and radar supports can be attached to the sides or roof of the vessel. The anchor light handrails are crafted from brass tubing that's cut and soldered according to the picture provided. This collection of components is designed to be versatile, allowing you to select and use some or all of the parts as needed. A separate posting showcases gripper arms that can be mounted on the model boat to deliver and retrieve model buoys, which are also posted elsewhere.
