Spring Winder (6 mm & 8 mm mandrels)

Spring Winder (6 mm & 8 mm mandrels)

thingiverse

This is a remix of a very nice Spring Winder found earlier on Thingiverse. However, the original one didn't meet my particular needs as I required a very special kind of spring that I created using 0.8 mm diameter music wire with an 8 mm inner diameter. This remix might be part of a bigger project; I'll need it to make all the springs used in this future project. Strengths: Very versatile, handling most small springs. Flexible, as the handle is designed to receive different size winders (6 & 8 mm for now, but we can redesign the whole thing to achieve other diameters). Easily swappable between sizes, simply unplug the key locks. 6 mm and 8 mm mandrel holder. The mandrel support is designed to receive several mandrel holder sizes as well. The system also works with key locks. Drawbacks: I need to redesign the holes as my printer can't handle such small holes very well. Extra cleaning is required to get all the pieces nice and clean (small files and 1mm drill bit are highly recommended!). Limited to 1 mm diameter wire at the moment. Print Settings: Printer: Emotion Tech Prusa i3 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 or 0.3 mm Infill: 20 to 35 % Notes: Supports are useful for printing key fitting holes, however they require extra time to be cleaned properly (as the windows are quite small). If you manage to print the parts correctly without using supports, please let me know! I'm curious to see if we can get a nice part without them.
