Spring seat for a finished end of a generic 19mm OD, 3.2mm wire diameter, 7mm pitch spring to test its compatibility with a 1996 Rockshox Judy fork. The coils on both ends of this generic spring are squished together but have not been flattened like those on an aftermarket medium Kronos spring with a 21mm OD and 3.37mm wire diameter. I sprayed the generic spring with white primer without any preparation beyond wiping it clean with alcohol. Most affordable forks, which often use one long coil spring in each leg, are wrapped in shrink tube around the middle to prevent damage when the center buckles under compression.
