Spring making tool
thingiverse
This is a device for compressing springs from 1.75mm filament. It serves as a proof-of-concept design since it only produces one specific size (20mm outer radius, 20mm rise). The prototype shown in images is an earlier version. The concept involves inserting one end of the filament into the hole to secure it, then heating the filament with a heat gun or hair dryer until it becomes soft. You then wrap the filament around the tool in the grooves and allow it to cool. There's a horizontal groove at the bottom that allows for making the last loop flat if desired. Once cooled, you can remove the spring from the tool, where it will maintain its shape. For optimal results, this device should be constructed with high-temperature plastic. I made mine out of PETG and the spring out of PLA.
