A fragment of a 19th-century merchant ship lies exposed on Ponte Vedra Beach after crashing on March 28, 2018. The preserved hull section showcases its forward port side, severely damaged above the keel line. A 48-foot section bears visible tool marks across many wooden timbers and distinctive Roman numerals etched into the metal frames. These photographs were taken just one day before the wreckage was relocated to the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve for further study.
