Spotify Amplifier (2x50W + 100W sub + Rpi Zero)
prusaprinters

A very small housing for a Raspberry Pi Zero W and a powerful 2.1 amplifier (~ $37) that drives stereo speakers plus a subwoofer (2x50W plus 100W for sub)

I currently run this network music player package on the Rpi: www.moodeaudio.org but www.volumio.org is another good choice too. Play from your phone using Bluetooth, Spotify, a local web UI on the Rpi with internet radio stations, local music files and more.

You find the amplifier at the usual places like Amazon, Aliexpress, Ebay and so on. Search for "Wuzhi Audio" and the model "ZK-TB21".

I happened to have a leftover laptop 19V power supply that I use to run the whole kit. To power the Raspberry Pi I piggy back from the power voltage running the amplifier and lower this for the Pi to 5V with a small DC-DC converter.

And finally a small USB sound card, generally found for less than $7. Both Moodeaudio and Volumio support just about any cheap USB sound card you can find. On the photos of my build I've removed its housing and soldered the audio cable to the board but that was just because the audio cable was so damn long so I cut it off in one end to make it not take up the whole space.
