(REMIX) to change from 8mm (metric) to 5/16" (SAE) hardware, the following are needed: Change number 1-A: the overall length of the threaded section is over 12"; however, the threaded rod sold at home stores is sold in 3 foot lengths, so I wanted to reduce the overall length to 12" so that I could make three sets, rather than 2 and have a 10" left over piece of rod. The easiest way to do this is to print the handles vertically, and then sink them into the bed 7-8mm. The print will be thinner on that end, but when printed at 40% there is sufficient strength. I tried printing these at 20%, but one of the handles broke (along the print grain) during assembly. Change number 1-B: Each handle will need to be reamed with a 21/64" (0.328") drill bit, to turn freely on a 5/16" (0.3125") rod. Hardware needed: 5/16" - 18tpi threaded rod, 12" length 5/16" - 18tpi nut, nylock, qty: 2 each Another change was to bearing: Change number 2: added spacer to be used in lieu of the 608 bearing (8x22x7mm). I made a stepped spacer that will press into the end of the roller, with an inside diameter to fit a 5/16" rod (slightly bigger than a 8mm one). Assembly notes: A) I found that inserting the nylock nuts backwards, e.g. nylock towards the middle resulted in better locking. B) Washers are not needed (I bought some metal ones, but didn't need them) C) The nylock nuts keep the handles from coming off (vs. regular non-locking hex nuts); if using those, you'd probably need thread locking compound Print Settings Printer: Lulzbot Taz 6 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.38mm (High Speed) Infill: 40% Filament: Ninja Tek ABS Black Category: Sport & Outdoors
