Spoonriders

thingiverse

Reminisce about childhood with Nabisco's "Spoon Man" cereal box premiums, invented in the 1950s by John "Wally" Walworth. Known as "Spoon Men" or "Spoon Sitters," these characters slide onto your spoon handle for company during meals. The spaceman with an antenna on his head is a memorable example. Rewind to present day, Thingiverse houses figurines such as Cthulu, Gorn, and Ganesh to accompany your meals. Support removal from the spoon slot might be tricky; exercise patience and avoid excessive force to prevent layer separation. Printing with the slot vertical can be an option but may not suit figurine preferences. Skilled support-less printing is another alternative. The design was tested on multiple spoons, some more compatible than others, necessitating a possible adjustment for specific spoons. The slot width varies; ensure correct positioning at the figure's front facing the spoon bowl. Slide the slot over the handle and gently push the figurine rearward for secure placement without splitting the plastic. Tinkercad offers editable source files under "Spoonrider."
