Spoolio is a spoolholder designed for the filament shelf from 3DPrintingNerd. I created it with several key attributes in mind: easy access, ease of assembly, smooth winding, compatibility with most spools of filament, adjustable width, prevention of filament tangle, design fitting for the brackets, and ease of printing. To build Spoolio, you will need to print two copies each of three files: "Spoolholder_mainframe_x2", "Pins_with_cover_x2", and either four copies of "Ring_x4" or use four bearings type 608 instead. For optimal results, print all parts in the direction shown, ensuring that they are sturdy. You will need to use supports touching the buildplate for the "Pins_with_cover_x2" file. After printing, if you choose to use the printed rings (file "Ring_x4") instead of bearings, you should sand all the pins from the "Pins_with_cover_x2" file to ensure smooth rolling. I used a nail file with four sides and achieved excellent results. Be sure that there are no chunky Z-seams inside the holes of the rings; if necessary, remove them by sanding or using a knife. If the surface of the rings is rough, sand them as well. If you opt to use bearings instead, you won't need any post-processing. The bearings should fit snugly on the pins, requiring only slight sanding if they don't seat properly. To assemble Spoolio, start by placing the rings/bearings over the triangle-shaped holes of the mainframe, then insert the "pins with cover" into the holes of the rings/bearings and push them into the mainframe. Repeat this process for the second holder, ensuring that it is assembled in a mirror-inverted manner. Watch the video to see how it's done. Finally, attach both parts of the holder to a wooden board, making sure that the "pins_with_cover_x2" face towards each other (rings on the inside). Adjust the distance between the two parts according to the width of the spool you wish to use. Place the spool on the holder and check for smooth rolling; adjust the distance if necessary. Ideally, the edges of the spool should sit in the middle of the rings/bearings on each side. With Spoolio complete, your life will be a little easier, and you'll have plenty of fun printing! Enjoy!
