This is a spool holder that utilizes 608 bearings to minimize friction. The 608 bearing is commonly used in fidget spinners and skateboards, making it readily available at an affordable price - less than $1 each. I utilized a BIC pen for the shaft, which has a diameter of approximately 8mm, resulting in a snug fit through the 608 bearings. Future upgrades will involve replacing the shaft with an old carbon fiber arrow shaft when converting to a dry box with multiple spools on a single shaft. This design accommodates a hatchbox spool bore of 55mm and a width of 68.5mm, but the addition of threads allows for compatibility with thicknesses between 60-90mm. The threads on the spool holder parts are M30x3.5, while the external threads are based on a root diameter of 31.5mm, providing approximately 0.75mm of clearance between the threaded components.
