Spool Tangle controller
thingiverse
I modified my Ender 5+ to a direct drive and decided to mount my filament to the roof above the printer out of the way. however occasionally the filament would unwind when then head went back towards the spool. So i decided to develop this simple design which goes around the spool as you put it on the standard spool mounts (the inside hole is 35mm) So now when the head moves towards the spool, the filament is held by the 2x curved edges in the front bar and stops it pushing loose around the spool and jumping of the side. This has only been on the spool for 2x prints, but seems to have stopped the spools getting unwound. It is still under test and development, but currently all looks good! If you make this, please post a make and comment any issues you have found so i can see about rectifying them. The gap between the arms is 70mm which is enough for the larger spools i get from my supplier, as others are slightly thinner. so i may add a few more front bars of varying lengths in the future as currently its being used on my large spools. You will need 2x of the arms, and 1 of the front bars. it will need a slight bit of filing to assemble, but then its tight fight to hold it together, the idea is that its easily assembled and disassembled to repair or store etc.
