Spool Mount System This mounting system was designed to quickly show off your extensive array of spools. The wall-mounted spools are ideal for quick and easy access, re-winding filament after unloading is also simplified. Mounted flush to the wall, the spools rotate smoothly on demand for precise control over filament feeding from any angle at a glance. For efficient use of space, spools can be arranged in staggered grids on either a backing board or the wall. With minimal material used and maximum sturdiness in every component, each part of this system delivers reliable printing performance without supports. A total of three different cores is included: one for MakerBot 1kg and 500g spools with a 2-inch core and another for a 3rd-party spool with a 1.5 inch core. The spool mount itself accommodates all three sizes perfectly, eliminating any possibility of wobble in the mounted core. The addition of "crown" offset parts makes mounting the MakerBot 1kg spools more efficient by maintaining an optimal margin between them and their mounting surface. Multiple arrays of mounted spools can easily supply filament to your printer from a suitable angle; if however, entry angles require adjustment for better results you can easily direct the filament flow around neighboring spools or rearrange and re-mount in another position. Instructions for building were generated using Foundry's modo software combined with Mesh Fusion for modeling, followed by prototype printing on MakerBot Replicator 2X hardware.
