Spool support, Anet A8
thingiverse
This was inspired by http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1624641, but that took quite a bit of plastic, so I set out to design an ultra-light spool support. So here is the result, about 6-7 grams each piece. I've had a few leftover 608z bearings from some older project (those are really cheap) so used them for smoother spool movement. Print two pieces for one spool or three for two spools (number of spools plus one). They are symmetrical with respect to the spool, but not symmetrical with respect to the bearings. Clamp the bearings with M8 nuts. When replacing the roll just slide one of supports off the skewer, leave the nuts and bearing in place. UPDATE: This design is outdated by a new and much simplified http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2169547. Use this if you want super smooth rolling with 608 bearings.
