I modified the classic spool roller by mjoaris to fit snugly on the EMT Conduit frame. Currently, it's mounted at the front for easy visibility but will be flipped around to the back for taller prints. I wanted it to snap-fit securely but realized six perimeter walls are necessary to hold a full spool safely. However, six walls don't bend easily. I'll print three more anyway (to run dual spools on two EMT8 printers) and try to make it even more snap-fit friendly. I secured the spool roller with a self-tapping screw. To prevent sag from the weight of a full spool, I tilted the bracket backward slightly. High walls also help combat this issue. That's a lot of weight hanging off there! The spool roller solves the problem of the extruder pulling on filament to get it off the spool and all related issues. Some people go to extremes by adding a second stepper as an extruder primer or feeder but that's unnecessary. No spool is perfectly round, so my setup at least has a "cam" action. I notice that the tension of the filament twist alone is enough to rotate the spool a full turn at a time and keep tension on the roll so it doesn't unwind and tangle. This roller requires two skateboard bearings and a self-tapping screw.
