Spool Roller Mod
thingiverse
This is a work in progress I haven't tested it yet, but the idea is simple, basically instead of redesigning the entire spool holder why not use what's already existing. When I go to test it out I'll update this post, the idea is simple slap these parts around a pre-existing amolen spool [others may work the core of the amolen is about 79-80 mm wide, and you may want to adjust the z-height to fit your specific spool] then voila, you got a modded spool reel to guide your filament using per-existing hardware already installed! Now I'm no expert and I haven't tested it so diy at your own expense for now lol. My game plan to the post processing is simple, I'll probably rough up whatever surfaces I can then slap glue on it starting with the male side then when I go to glue on the female side be sure to dab the contact points, I'd use just a dab on the tips as I only gave it 1mm difference but it might work out lol. if someone would like to remix this it would be awesome to get some groves on the edges for reinforcement via rubber-bands. or even better would be cool if we could get one to use a screw/nut. Last, I think it 'should' just print I'm thinking high walls no/low infill, as it's not bearing weight we just want it sturdy for longer usage, probably pla.
