These parts remain available for purchase, although they're currently in short supply. Given that a printable replacement can be designed in just a few hours with five prototypes, why bother buying them? The cheapest option I found cost $7 plus shipping per unit, and I needed two of them. If you own an old Kenmore 385 or similar sewing machine made by Janome in Taiwan, the spool pin bushings might have worn out. This can be a major headache. To install these, you'll need to remove the top of the machine. The clips often fall inside and may not be immediately visible. One of mine fell out right away, while the other required me to hold the machine upside down and gently slap its sides for a minute before it came loose from the grease holding it in place. If the clips are completely gone, I suspect that a carefully bent safety pin will do the trick just fine. These parts print in the orientation shown in the STL file with no supports. I made mine using PETG with 100% infill, but it's likely not crucial as long as your layer adhesion is good. It requires some force to install them and may be challenging to rotate once inserted – on purpose. Use these parts responsibly and remember that crafts have no inherent gender and makers should work in multiple mediums.
