Spool Mount for Gladiator Shelving
thingiverse
Recently I purchased a gladiator shelving system for my 3D printers, which are mostly Makergear M2 models, and needed a way to mount filament spools weighing up to 2 kilograms each. To accomplish this, I heavily redesigned the original spool holder created by FSU_Innovation_Hub. A single arm is insufficient to hold a 2 kilogram spool securely. Therefore, I decided that two arms are better than one and designed a lightweight version of the arm. Two such arms have no problem holding heavy spools, and it's actually easier to swap out these spools. These mounts are intended for use with 3/4 inch schedule 40 PVC pipes, but smaller diameters would also work well. The included file for PVC caps prevents them from sliding off. To print these parts successfully, use a very low infill percentage (I used 15%) and choose PLA + or PETG as your material. Regular PLA is too brittle and might break when attaching the spools. However, PLA + holds up great. I have included Fusion 360 files in case you want to modify these designs for yourself.
