Simple and easy-to-print modular wall-mount spool holder. I was going about my morning routine when inspiration struck, right by a standard toilet paper holder that's been staring at me every day. I didn't waste any time - within 3 hours, this design was born in CAD, and it's a mix of every standard toilet paper holder in North America. I've often found that the humblest objects can spark innovative ideas. This spool holder is designed to work seamlessly with any 1.75mm Hatchbox brand spool (or an 8" diameter spool with the same width). Here are some assembly notes: The parts are secured with 6x 14mm M3 screws, which I always source from Mcmaster-Carr. You can find them here: http://www.mcmaster.com/#92095a168/=z1d7m5 There are six mounting holes in the base that can be tapped for M3 size (printed at 2.5mm diameter). After tapping, they fit M3 screws perfectly. If you don't have a drill and tap set, I highly recommend investing in one - it's an essential tool. The base features larger three-wall mounting holes that are designed to be finish-drilled with a 4.5mm bit or equivalent. You can use 1" or 3/4" PVC as the reel pin - I used 3/4" cut to 3.75 inches and it worked wonderfully. I printed all three parts of this spool holder using 18% infill and black Hatchbox PLA, with great results.
