Spool Holder
thingiverse
I had to modify my material wire spool holder to ensure precise wire feeding during printing. The original design involved placing the spool directly on an 8mm threaded rod. However, this setup led to jerky unwinding motions due to the offset from the spool's center when the feeder pulled the wire or the stepper moved the nozzle. To address this issue, I designed a clip that attaches to each side of the spool and slides along the 8mm rod without ball bearings - surprisingly smooth enough for my needs. This design can be easily adapted to accommodate ball bearings if needed. The clip snaps into place within the 56mm spool hole, making it compatible with any width spools. Additionally, this design can be modified to suit different diameters. By using multiple clips on a single rod, you can mount more spools and maintain a smooth wire delivery throughout your printing process.
