Work in Progress: ideas & suggestions and remixes welcome. Another spool holder design takes shape. This one aligns the filament roll perfectly with normal extruder motion, eliminating twisting and jumping issues. Initial build test shows promise - it snapped on without breaking and stayed put during a small print run. A more flexible material than PLA might be ideal for this project. Two-part screw-together design could also improve overall functionality. Meshmixer primitives require refinement, resulting in some product imperfections. This is an ongoing work in progress... Postscript: After using the spool holder for several days and printing over a kilogram of filament, it has proven to be remarkably reliable - silent, squeak-free, and rattle-free. Now, refining the grip mechanism remains on my to-do list.
